Among the endless array of restaurants in the Myrtle Beach area is Kaminsky’s New York Deli: a local favorite that is rapidly becoming a favorite stop for Grand Strand visitors “in the know.”
Entering its second year of business, Kaminsky’s is owned and operated by my wife, Eva, and myself. After selling our Long Island, New York home and quitting our jobs, we headed south for a new life in 1999. Our plans shifted off track, however, when the company I was to work for in Myrtle Beach was sold; I opted for a job in restaurant equipment sales instead. One day I happened to come across a bagel shop/deli that was for sale and went home to sell Eva on the idea of an incredible business opportunity for us. She, of course, thought I was crazy.
We eventually invested all of our house money and paid cash for that small shop in Little River. On the day of the closing, however, evacuation orders were issued for Hurricane Floyd, which was bearing down on the Carolinas. We can still recall being in our deli, glancing around at what we had just purchased, and sighing as all of the cars were leaving town.
After nine years with that business, we decided to sell in order to concentrate on what we did best: preparing incredible New York deli foods such as pastrami, corned beef, and our highly popular homemade salads.
Upon finding a fantastic location for our new New York deli in Myrtle Beach, we knew right away that it was going to be a great success. Throughout the three month construction period, customers were trying to get in and, to our pleasant surprise, we were absolutely slammed when we finally opened our doors.
And now, after two years, we’ve established Kaminsksy’s as the place to go for a little slice of New York in Myrtle Beach. Folks can’t seem to get enough of the delicious sandwiches that are overstuffed with Boar’s Head meats, the exceptional Pastrami and Corned Beef (shipped in from New York), or the taste-tempting salads made fresh each day. The atmosphere is clean and comfortable, and every effort is made to ensure that each item on our menu is always the best you’ve ever tasted!
